"THE C.O.R.E. PROGRAM"

OVERVIEW:

The C.O.R.E. (College Out-Reach and Employment) Program is a college readiness and employment skills training program.  C.O.R.E offers weekly academic and life skills instruction, Social/emotional learning and employment skills training during the school year, and ACT test preparation, intensive workshops, basic skills instruction, college tours and service learning opportunities during a seven week summer program offered at three (3) locations. Any child in grades 6-12 may attend.

  • Application Strategy

  • Tips For Writing College Essays

  • The Active Resume

  • Recommendations

  • College Tuition Assistance

  • College Visits and Interviews  

 

 

College Prep Workshops:

College Prep workshops are structured to advise students about college admissions process and how to prepare for success. The workshops are enjoyable and interactive. 

 

College Tours:

College Tours are set up  to help participants make an educated choice of where they want to spend some of the most important years of their lives. College visits allow students to view college resources, sporting facilities, cultural landmarks, campus housing, campus dining, and the overall college experience.

 

Service Learning:

Service Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that will enrich the learning experience of our participants.  C.O.R.E. provides students with opportunities to develop civic engagement skills. By working with community members, students can enhance their group, organizational and interpersonal skills. C.O.R.E. Participants also can gain important experience working with diverse members of their communities.

 

ACT/SAT Preparation:

C.O.R.E. offers test preparation to our college bound participants. Our personalized, interactive test prep will help to lower stress, build confidence and navigate the big test day with ease. Our program leads to improved performance and better scores on the ACT/SAT test.

 

Basic Skill Instruction:

Basic Skill Instruction uses a variety of strategies and techniques to gain a positive outlook on learning and improve self-esteem. C.O.R.E. provides a range of services for identified struggling students and gear our program to meet the needs of our participants.

  • During School Days: 2pm – 6pm

  • Open on Holidays (Excluding Legal Holidays)

  • Summer Camp 9am – 5pm
